Dear POTENTIAL SPONSOR (i.e. PTO) -
I am writing to tell you about, and request your support for, a fun new program here at YOUR SCHOOL NAME called, MISSION NUTRITION – Fruits & Veggies ROCK! This initiative was developed in response to the observed impact food choices have on the well-being of our students. Kids who don't eat well, often don't feel well: This interferes with learning. One walk through the cafeteria at lunchtime provides too much evidence to ignore; fresh fruit and vegetables aren't always well represented in many of our student lunches.
The goal of MISSION NUTRITION is to generate enthusiasm for nutritious foods and to encourage our students to eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables every day. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases, including stroke and perhaps other cardiovascular diseases, and certain cancers.”
A (INSERT A DESCRIPTION OF YOUR MISSION NUTRITION ATTIRE IN PLACE OF THE UNDERLINED TEXT) silly hat, covered in fruits and veggies, and a lab coat covered in smiling produce with embroidered phrases like "Broc Rocks", "Glad Rad", and "I have A Peel" has made walking the cafeteria at lunchtime a great opportunity to engage the kids in conversations about food choices and ways to incorporate plenty of fruits and veggies into their daily lives. Congratulating our students on their healthier lunch choices and handing out small rewards; such as (INSERT A DESCRIPTION OF YOUR INCENTIVE ITEMS IN PLACE OF THE UNDERLINED TEXT) fruit scented erasers, silly bands, and stickers, are some of the ways the MISSION NUTRITION program is reinforcing healthy choices.
